As the word suggests, a yoga retreat is a wonderful opportunity to step back from our daily lives; to escape the tedium of our routines and to free ourselves from the stresses and strains that build up inside and around us. Join our yoga retreat in Tarifa from 9th – 13th June 2021.
The past year has been a rollercoaster for many of us, and we have all been affected in some way by the upheaval, isolation and the never ending changes to rules and regulations throwing our routines into disarray.
Many of us have have been working from home and many more of us have also been homeschooling and juggling work and family under the same roof. The sanctuary of our home also became our office, nursery and our classroom.
It may have seemed quite overwhelming at times, and I am sure mid-quarantine, many of us were longing to escape the madness, mayhem, chaos and confusion and jet off to Bali to meditate alone in a hut.
Thankfully, we don’t have to run across the world for weeks to achieve a zen state of mind, and even a few days away from home in a calming environment can help us to relax, rebalance and reset.
A mini-retreat offers so many benefits for mind, body and soul –
DISCONNECT
Disconnect entirely from the routine of daily life.
No matter how much we tell ourselves we can relax at home by simply taking time off work, sitting by the pool with a book or heading down to the beach, we will not truly disconnect unless we are in a different environment; new surroundings, sleeping in a different bed, waking up to a new view and getting into a new routine.
By taking the action of stepping out of our daily lives, we are allowing ourselves to truly disconnect – And ultimately heal ourselves.
Have time for REFLECTION
It is not only our body that is rushing around all day long, all too often, our mind is just as active, just as stressed and just as tired.
Ever heard the expression “I don’t have time to think” well, stepping away from it all and seeking a little quiet and stillness will allow for those thoughts to come naturally. No forcing, no overthinking, just quiet reflection.
You will be surprised at the wisdom that comes to you when you give your mind a chance to rest.
Look after your BODY
Yoga, meditation, swimming and walking in the countryside are all medicine for your body and will do wonders for improving your health.
Practicing yoga every morning is a wonderful way to begin the day and the more you practice, the stronger, the more supple and agile you will become.
You will also find yourself beginning to move more in the state of flow, slowing down and moving with intention and purpose.
As you relax and focus on your breathing, you will find the tension and build-up of stress begin to slip away, and your body will start to repair and restore.
WE ARE what we EAT
How many of us snack on the go? Skip meals? Binge? Or munch down food whilst multitasking? Yup, this modern world has left us forgetting the sacredness of mealtimes, the importance of food, the benefits of conscious eating and the simple pleasure of sitting down to savour good food in tranquility with good company.
In only a few days of adopting good eating habits and consuming delicious, nutritious meals – our body will feel the benefits and we will begin to crave more.
Good eating habits, improved diet and awareness around organic produce are some of the little changes that we can implement upon returning home that will change our habits and our lives long after the retreat is over.
GET TO KNOW yourself
Yes, it may seem like a cliche to say “I’m going to find myself” and yet… it’s so accurate!
We can all lose ourselves in the thoughts, opinions and expectations of others and can easily lose sight of our own direction, wants, desires and ambitions.
Sometimes we need to step away from everything else in order to find ourselves again.
Learn from NATURE
We may be surrounded by nature at home, but as we are swept up in the busy hubbub of everyday life, we may well miss its beauty and the miracles of nature all around us. From the early morning bird song to the golden sunlight shining in through our window, nature’s beauty and magic has so much to teach us,
if only we take a moment to look and listen. When was the last time you stopped to smell the flowers? Gazed up at the night sky? Or counted the colours on the horizon at sunset?
Learning to notice and appreciate all the little things can have a profound impact on our gratitude and general happiness.
Truly REST
Sure, sleep is rest – and we do that every night, but when was the last time that you felt TRULY rested?
When was the last time you didn’t feel the burden of responsibility, or deadlines pressing, or emails to answer or housework to be done – and if you’re at home there is pretty much ALWAYS housework to be done!
Why not get away, switch off and give yourself this time to rest fully; mind, body and soul.
Find your true SELF
We love our partners, our children and our jobs… and devote so much of our time and energy to them that we can often lose sight of our own needs.
Between taking care of the laundry, meals and the house and all the other chores and responsibilities that fill up our days, we can all too often forget what brings us joy, what makes us feel alive and what we believe in.
Retreating for a few days can reignite some of that passion in our souls.
Perhaps we are in search of direction? Of motivation? Maybe we have tough choices to make or decisions to take?
Tapping in to our truest self will help set us on the right path when we return home.
REJUVENATE
Yes, it’s true – no amount of face cream or botox can give you the natural rejuvenation of a truly restorative retreat.
A mini-retreat offers a certain youth, a sparkle in the eyes, a spring in the step and a lightness of being that no face-lift could ever replicate.
Plastic surgery may be able to hide wrinkles, but you can’t fake the rejuvenation of spirit that makes you glow from the inside out!
Radiant’s 4-day yoga retreat to Tarifa is the mini-retreat we have all been waiting for!
Your home for four nights will be the beautiful country manor house, Huerta Belinda, boasting breathtaking views over the strait to Morocco.
Daily rituals include morning and evening yoga, down time to enjoy the pool or to treat yourself to a relaxing massage.
We are excited to have Pachamama Organic on board preparing delicious wholesome food for us as well as hosting a special workshop to inspire us to embrace a plant based lifestyle.
There will also be time for outdoor activities such as horse riding and to enjoy the stunning white sandy beaches and crystalline waters of Tarifa.

PACHAMAMA ORGANIC
Anne Marie and Benjamin are a passionate duo that pour their love into growing and creating delicious 100% organic plant-based whole foods.
“For us, the most direct way in which we can eat our way to better health while at the same time taking better care of Mother Earth is by offering 100% organic, mostly plant-based food, grown and created in a friendly, respectful and mindful environment. This is how we feel we are being part of the solution. Every small scale contribution to this solution will eventually make a huge difference to the health of our planet.”
Yoga To Expect at our Retreat
Hatha Yoga
“Ha” means sun and “tha” means moon so the hatha practice helps us to balance our “masculine” and “feminine” aspects, finding equilibrium. During the practice you will build strength and flexibility. This asana practice cultivates focus, and helps to clear the energy pathways in the body bringing it to a sense of alignment.
Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is a practice that works the connective tissues (fascia, ligaments, tendons and bones) of the body.It is a soft and passive practice that requires slowing down so we can surrender the body to gravity and enter a state of self-inquiry and contemplation. It is an asana and meditation practice all rolled into one, that helps to release and clear the energy pathways of the body.
